25 new photo carts and starling boxes have been installed in Denmark. The total number is therefore 107 express vehicles and permanent stands around the country. The new ATK (automatic traffic control) wagons are of the Ford Transit Custom brand. There are several new improvements to the new ATK, firstly, the speed is now measured at a distance of 1,200 meters, where the old ones measured 400m before. In addition, the new photo cars also film in the opposite direction. This means that motorcyclists can have their number plate filmed. At the same time, the camera has a higher resolution and it produces better images.
At the same time, speeding fines have increased by 20% and the fines are part of the funding for the training of more officers. Although the number of speeding fines has decreased from 2017 to 2021 by more than 150,000, the total fine amount has increased.
The statistics say that 4 out of 10 traffic fatalities are due to excessive speed.
Not everyone deliberately drives too fast, but already at a speed limit of 50 km/h the fine is DKK 1,200 for speeding between 51 km/h and 59 km/h. The same amount applies for a speed limit of 80 km/h and a speed limit between 81 km/h and 89 km/h.
So pay close attention to your speed because it will of course be more expensive the greater your speed is too high. It may be a good idea to use the autopilot in the car to not exceed the permitted speed.
